A 6-Week Course · Storytelling & Photography
For women ready to give shape to what they’ve remembered.
Some stories don’t want to be explained. They want to be seen. This six-week course is for women who feel a pull to express lived experience through image and story — not for performance or publication, but for meaning-making.
Photography becomes a way of seeing.
Story becomes a way of claiming voice.
And visibility is approached with choice, not demand.
You do not need to be a photographer. You do not need to be a writer. You do not need to share anything you are not ready to share. This is a creative container for shaping memory, lineage, and personal insight into tangible form.
First we listen. Then we choose. Then, if we wish, we speak.
— The arc of The S.T.O.R.Y. BridgeWhat This Course Is
Some women complete Becoming the Bridge™ and feel settled, clearer, complete. Others feel something quietly open — a desire not just to hold what has been uncovered, but to express it. Not loudly. Not publicly. Just honestly.
Roots & Reflections is a six-week creative course for that moment. It is outward-facing work — expressive, generative, and gentle. A space where ancestry becomes art, memory becomes story, and the camera becomes a way of honoring what is real.
No prior experience in photography or writing is required. No technical skill. Only curiosity, and a willingness to show up.
A creative, expressive course using photography and storytelling

A non-competitive, non-judgmental creative community

A technical photography or writing class
A course about social media, visibility, or building an audience
A space where you are expected to share before you are ready
Therapy, genealogy research, or trauma processing
The Six Weeks
Each week builds gently on the last. Together they form a complete arc — from remembering where you come from, through gathering and crafting your stories, to placing yourself in the living tapestry as both descendant and ancestor.
Week One
Introduction to ancestry, family stories, and identity
We begin by tracing the thread. The Tree of Me exercise opens the journey — gathering the names, places, traditions, and fragments that make up your lineage. This week is about orienting yourself within the continuum before we reach for the camera or the pen.
Week Two
Genealogy, family interviews, and memory gathering
We explore how to start a family tree, gather stories from living relatives, and hold the tension between memory, story, and fact. Practical tools for ancestry research sit alongside the gentle art of interviewing a family member with curiosity and care.
Week Three
Seeing our stories differently through the lens
The camera becomes a reflective tool. We explore how images hold emotion, evoke memory, and invite a different kind of witnessing. Participants bring photographs that matter — and learn to look at them as story seeds rather than documents.
Week Four
Healing and transformation through creative witness
We turn gently toward the more complex threads — family wounds, lost stories, silence, and gaps. Reflective journaling, shadow and light photography, and the option to write and symbolically release a story that no longer needs to be carried.
Week Five
Creative expression and the Roots Story Portfolio
We bring words and images together. Participants begin assembling a Roots Story Portfolio — pairing photographs with short reflections, stories, sketches, or poems. This is where the separate threads begin to show themselves as one weave.
Week Six
Honoring the journey and carrying the practice forward
A story circle, a closing ritual, and a letter to future descendants. We celebrate the work, witness each other’s discoveries, and set an intention for carrying the practice forward as a living ritual. This week belongs to the group.
What You’ll Leave With
A personal collection of images, stories, and reflections assembled across the six weeks — a tangible record of your lineage and your creative witness.
A felt sense of belonging within your family story — including the complex, incomplete, and silent parts.
Tools, prompts, and a personal rhythm for ongoing storytelling and photography long after the six weeks close.
The experience of expressing something real — and being witnessed doing it — in a space that values presence over perfection.

Where This Sits
Roots & Reflections is the expressive step in the S.T.O.R.Y. Bridge arc. Where Becoming the Bridge™ is inward-facing — about identity, belonging, and wisdom — this course is outward-facing. Creative. Generative. Visible.
The two programs are designed to stand independently and speak beautifully to one another. Neither is required to validate the other. You are welcome to begin here, or to arrive here after Becoming the Bridge™.
